![]() Tibetan Translation Tool v1.2 Tibetan Translation Tool v1.2 is a Java™ application by Michael Kim that facilitates the preparation of translations from Tibetan to English. The current version is designed to support the Rangjung Yeshe Tibetan-English Dictionary version 3.0, available on CD-ROM. ![]() The latest version (v1.2) allows filters to be applied when opening dictionaries, to support the new Rangjung Yeshe Dictionary 3.0 format. It also shows words modified by particles, includes an enhanced dictionary search engine with support for multiple search terms, the ability to export translation reports to HTML, and numerous interface enhancements, bringing to life a new level interaction between Tibetan texts and the Rangjung Yeshe Dictionary. Installation First, install the Java Runtime Environment for J2SE 1.4 (recommended). The Tibetan Translation Tool requires the Java Runtime Environment (J2SE 1.3.1 or higher). Unzip the contents of TibetanTranslationTool_1_2_2.zip. A new directory TibetanTranslationTool will be created. There are several ways to start Tibetan Translation Tool on Windows platforms, and basically one way to start it on all other platforms such as Macintosh. For non-Windows platforms, see below. Windows Only: Run the file t3 start.exe or create a shortcut to t3 start.exe and execute the shortcut. - OR - Windows Only: Run the executable jar file t3.jar or create a shortcut to t3.jar and execute the shortcut. (T3.jar must have a file location with no space in the directory names of all parent directories, such as "C:\TibetanTranslationTool\t3.jar".) - OR - Note: The following two methods for running the Tibetan Translation Tool are the only ways to load the entire latest Rangjung Yeshe Dictionary 3.0 (without filters) because of the size of the dictionary. Use this method if the program freezes while loading the dictionary for "( All entries )" due to running out of memory. Windows Only: (Advanced Users) Edit the batch file t3.bat in the "TibetanTranslationTool/bin" directory so the PATH setting points to your javaw.exe, located in the "bin" directory under the java home directory. Run the batch file t3.bat which creates a shortcut to it. Edit the shortcut's "Properties -> Program -> Working:" setting to be the path to the directory in the "Properties -> Program -> Cmd line:" field (i.e., same as the "Cmd line:" setting without the "t3.bat" part at the end of it). After these steps are taken, just run the shortcut created which can now be placed anywhere. All Platforms: (Advanced Users) Run the command java -Xms64MB -Xmx256MB -jar t3.jar (or the command java -Xms64MB -Xmx256MB -cp T3.jar tibetan.t3.T3) from the "TibetanTranslationTool" folder, making sure your PATH environment variable points to the "java" executable. (The main class is "tibetan.t3.T3", the classpath is "t3.jar". All required library classes are in "rt.jar" for J2SE, which does not need to be specified.)
